Leave No Trace! This Festival can hardly be described as a normal gig to performer or punter. Its got something special, something that can’t be described. It could the feeling of being on a remote Island with a like minded crowd of up for it individuals that might do it!. 11th year. This year we are producing the Festival with help from the Rathlin Island community Co-op. We are going back to the friendly, laid back vibe from our past small parties on the island. This year we will be having more art and live music. We will be starting the music at lunch time so we can cut the music off earlier than previous years. Like previous years we hope to attract young and old people from all over the uk, Ireland and as far as America to a beautiful part of Ireland they might never have seen other wise. The earlier cut off time will allowing everyone to get a good night sleep for an early rise to take in the breath taking views, fresh air and get to know you fellow festival goers.
Help us ensure the festivals long term survival by reading the following. Book your ferry place sooner than later to avoid disappointment. Tel: +44 (0)28 20 769299 www.rathlinballycastleferry.com Time Table is here. There will be 2-3 smaller boats running to the island all day friday & back on Sunday & Monday. I know one of the smaller boats is called:Miss-B-Haveing so look out for it. They can carry 12 people & their gear at a time but they don’t run to any schedule. They will leave when they are full, from one of the smaller piers. Look out for the signs. You can contact Dan from Miss-B-Haveing on 07799390431
Buses will be running from the ferry to the site. A bus service runs periodically past the site during the day and travels the length of the island. The kind man who lets us use his field will be putting livestock in as soon as we leave, so the site must be clean. You can help by not dropping litter, but bagging it and taking it off the island when you leave. A cigarette butt or ring pull takes ages to degrade in a field or in a cows gut, so stub them out & put the but or pull in your pockets. Anyone interested in helping with the Monday clean up let yourself be known here. Food. Take what you need to survive for the three days. Remember the body cant survive on Beer & Buckfast alone. Pack high energy food & snacks. There are no cooking facilities provided so you need to be self sufficient. The Bar/restaurant is 3.5 miles away. Booze. Bring enough drink to do your stay. Don’t bring glass bottles. The Bar (3.5 miles away) does expensive carry outs. Shelter. Prepare for all weather conditions. Rathlin Island gets some of the harshest weather in Ireland and the site is exposed. Bring warm clothes and water proofs. Bring a spare set of clothes and a decent tent. Trust me when I say that a £10 tent from Lidl will not cut it. Water & toilets are provided bring your own loo roll & water container. Respect the Boundaries. Don’t leave the site for two reasons. 1.You will be trespassing. 2.You could fall off a cliff or fall in a shuck & that ain't fun. Don’t take animals. Respect. the Island, it is Beautiful and relatively unspoiled due partly to the work of the locals. They are very protective & proud of their Island. Everyone has respect for everyone else & their property. We must not upset this balance. They are kind enough to support the festival, putting trust in us Force 10 and you the punter to respect their Island. Everything will be fine as long as the respect & trust is maintained. Any carry on will put the festivals future in question. There is a shop but it is only open limited hours over the weekend & is 3.5 miles from the site. In closing. This festival isn’t your standard festival. its free & everyone involved artists & organizers are doing it for the love of it. There will be no bar, attitude, shit in a tray food vans or vendors. We provide the tunes, setting & décor........... you bring the vibe.
Peace. Slacky ~Force10 Crew~
